- Lutein, the pigment in the skin of tomatoes, protects the fruit from the sun. It does the same for your skin.
- Red wine in moderation is good for the heart. The pigment reseveratrol may be the reason but red wine is also packed with a range of polyphenols including anthocyanins.
- Anthocyanin, the pigment that makes berries red and blue is good for the memory and lots of other things including the heart and arteries.
- The yellow pigment in spinach called xanthophyll protects the leaf from the sun and it might do the same for your eyes.
